Accident and Injury Chiropractic
Accident and Injury Chiropractic is clearly the most common form of chiropractic care. Following an accident or injury residual pain is a very normal experience. After over the counter pain medicines are exhausted, many people will call on a chiropractor or family doctor. This is step two in the pain management cycle of most folks. This new pain will require an examination from your attending physician. Once the cause of your new pain has been determined a treatment regimen or plan can be discussed. This is where you need to pay particular attention to the medical options that are being presented to you. After all, it’s your pain and it’s your body so get involved from the very beginning. Be a part of the decision making process.
Treatment With Chiropractic Care:
Accident and Injury Chiropractic treatment can vary greatly from patient to patient. While many accidents or injuries seem similar the end results to your body can widely differ. Because the pain is special to you the treatment may be special as well. No two accidents or injuries are identical. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that your individualized treatment may be different as well. Neck pain and back pain are common results of accidents and injuries. Possible Accident and Injury Chiropractic Treatment:
We have talked about different treatments for different people. The following represents some of the possibilities that may be proposed to you to relieve your particular pain.
- Over the counter pain medication and/or muscle relaxers
- Prescription pain medication and/or muscle relaxers
- Dietary considerations
- Specific exercises
- Physical therapy
- Massage therapy
- Therapeutic machines
- Chiropractic regimen with spinal adjustments
- Spinal injections
- Surgery
All or some of the above may be recommended by your medical professional to relieve pain. Accident and Injury chiropractic is an important part of your medical arsenal. Don’t forget you should always be comfortable with your recommended treatment. If you are not comfortable for any reason seek a second opinion. It is your body and you get to make the final decision on any treatment. You are not required to accept anyone’s treatment recommendation. Surgery should be your last consideration . . . not the first!
It’s interesting that you mention how accidents and injuries can require different forms of treatment for different people. It makes sense that some people may only need medication while others might need chiropractic care or physical therapy. My wife was recently in an accident and I’m worried that she may have experienced whiplash, so, having her visit a chiropractor could be helpful to diagnose and treat the issue.
